Achievements

A large no. of people requiring Corneal Transplant ( from Donated Corneas) are Children and Poor people.
Even if a donor Cornea is available, prevailing cost of Transplant ranges from Rs 30,000/ to Rs 50,000/. Even charitable institutes charge around Rs 15,000/.
Niramaya aims to make this cost FREE to poor patients by seeking sponsorship for a Corneal Transplants.
Space for the Centre has already been provided by Dr. T N Ahooja (President, Niramaya). Building and infrastructure has been provided by Mahindru Charitable Trust.
Cost of Rs 10,000/ per transplant for poor patients is required to be sponsored.
100 Transplants are targeted in 2011 and around 500 next year.
Surgeries to be conducted by a trained Cornea Specialist, Dr Hitendra Ahooja, MS & Fellow, Cornea and Anterior Segment, Ahooja Eye Hospital Gurgaon and a competent and qualified team of Doctors.
No charges are proposed to be charged for even the post operation follow-up.
