Niramaya Charitable Trust, established in January 2004 in Gurgaon (Haryana) under the Society’s Act, is committed to providing quality community eye care to the urban and rural poor, with a focus on preventing blindness and restoring vision. Founded by a group of young, qualified professionals including doctors, engineers, and management experts, the trust has benefited more than half a million individuals to date.
Our patrons are experienced professionals with extensive backgrounds in healthcare and charitable work. Dr. Hitendra Ahooja, MS (Ophthalmology), a leading eye surgeon and Medical Director of Niramaya, heads the trust. He is also the Chairperson of the Eye Bank Association of India (North Zone).
About the Founder: Dr. T. N. Ahooja, the founder of Niramaya, has over five decades of experience in healthcare and charitable initiatives in Gurugram. His vision to combat blindness and improve access to quality eye care in underserved areas led to the formation of the trust.

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS

Niramaya has a cornea retrieval and transplant program through the Niramaya Eye Bank, the only eye bank in South Haryana, approved by state authorities.

The trust has received IT exemption under Section 80 (G), and BSNL has granted a free helpline (1919) for the eye bank.

Sustained by funds from founders, local industries, and philanthropists, Niramaya continues to support a variety of health sector initiatives.
